Katie Kacvinsky, Curriculum Facilitator for the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM will lead a lesson plan writing workshop to show teachers how to create an unforgettable experience for their students using brass and will discuss the benefits of signing up and taking advantage of the tools and resources available on the newly renovated Teacher Resource Center.

Palms in the Classroom

This workshop will share information about the power of handheld computing, highlight how handhelds are being used in businesses and by educators and students to manage schedules and stay connected with classroom work, activities, assignments or grades. Participants will learn about how to find free and low-cost handheld applications that can be used in classrooms on a variety of handheld devices. Palm handhelds will be available for use by participants, or you can bring your own.

Whether this is a new class or one that has been established for awhile; this sectional will offer various ideas, projects, websites and resources to assist you in teaching this fun course. A booklet of ideas will be shared, as well as time at the end to exchange ideas and ask questions.

Creating Classroom Podcasts
Presenter – Dr. Elizabeth Alderton and Robert Wagner, Marian College Educational Technology Masters Program

Learn how to make an audio Podcast for your classroom. For teachers, Podcasting extends teaching and learning beyond the normal classroom hours. Students are able to easily and continuously learn as well as share their creations with Podcasts. This will be a hands-on session using a free software called Audacity as well as purchased software called Podium. Bring your iPod or your USB jump drive for saving. Using Podcast websites and information will also be presented. Come have fun while learning about Podcasts!

Your Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Benefits
Presenter – Colleen Ries, Trust Funds Specialist-Adv

This presentation covers many of the WRS benefits administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF). Topics discussed include retirement, separation and survivor benefits, and life and health insurance, if applicable. The presentation will illustrate retirement calculations and explain annuity options. Service purchases, military service credit, and additional WRS contributions will also be covered.
