FOSTER COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK WITH GOOGLE DOCUMENTS
Bonnie Smith, Lakeshore Technical College
Google Docs is a free online word processing editor that enables you to collaborate on documents in real time with up to 50 other people. There is no turnaround time as you wait for the document to be passed around via email. It is easy to create, store, share, and collaborate on a file. Documents can be stored in your Google space or saved to your PC in several different formats, including Word and PDF. Existing documents can be imported and stored as well. How can you use it? This tool could be incorporated into a group or team project that requires a final written product. Google Docs (1) allows team members to work on files anywhere, anytime; (2) gets quick feedback from multiple people; and (3) makes the full writing process visible. Attend this hands-on session and give it a try! Other Google Tools will be explored as time allows.

DIGITAL STORYTELLING
Trisha Sabel, New Holstein
Take the art of oral storytelling to a whole new dimension. Digital scrapbooking uses technology to weave personal tales into digital masterpieces by using pictures, music, and the author’s own voice to create a multimedia production that will last a lifetime. You will need to bring a short story of an event in your life. Perhaps it was a memorable family vacation or the birth of a child or grandchild. In addition to your written story, you need to bring along pictures, saved to a memory stick, from the event and at least one CD of a favorite song that will enhance your production.
